Speculative operational section from a design proposal for a ‘school for the study of the volatile human body’,2013, graphite on layered trace.
This design was informed by the duality of muscle contraction and expansion, resulting in a designed bracing structure which, when expanded, would enclose the ceiling and floor to create a rehearsal space with a synchronised swimming pool beneath, and when contracted, pull the components apart to form an open-air performance stage.

Work in progress - graphite on trace, pictured below. Stripped a canvas off and mounted it to the frame.

The slime lines were taken from rescaled silhouettes of the mutants collaged from previous contours in my Moleskine and connected at random on the reverse of the substrate (similar to the process from Cicada Sprawl).
